„Rieserferner – Ahrn“ Natural Park
The Rieserferner - Ahrn Natural Park stretches on a surface of approx. of 31,505 ha (= 78,762.5 acres), and touches the communities of Sand in Taufers, Gais, Percha, Rasen-Antholz, Ahrntal, and Prettau.
The bottom of the Tauferer Valley is the park´s natural border in the northwest. In the northeast to the pass of the “Staller Sattel” the political border of Austria also marks the border of the park, whereas in the southeast the Valley of Antholz and in the south the Puster Valley mark off the park.
The „Rieserferner – Ahrn“Natural Park (31.505 km²) flanks the National Park “Hohe Tauern” (1,786 km²). Together with the protected area of “Zillertaler Hauptkamm” (372 km²), these three natural parks are the largest reserve in Europe. Joint activities and programs help to increase the sense of responsibility and to preserve the unique nature and the cultural heritage
