The Lake of Antholz/Anterselva
Right at the end of the valley on 1.650 m sea level is Lake of Antholz/Anterselva with its outstanding colors of deep blue and green. As the lake is part of the Natural Park no fishing or boats is allowed. But awaiting the visitors are several restaurants around the lake which offer a variety of homemade specialities. So, a one-hour hike round the lake is worthwhile, anyway. The lake is also the starting point for a wonderful hike up to the mountain pasture “Steinzgeralm”, on 1,891 m, and the “Barmerhütte “ (mountain hut) on 2,610 m (winter quarters).
Lake Prags/Braies and Plätzwiese/Pratopiazza
A day at the lake. Shortly before arriving in Niederdorf/Villabassa turn right and enter the Valley of Prags/Braies, a side valley of the Puster Valley. At its very end, in the Natural Park of Fanes-Sennes Prags, there is Lake Braies (see picture), one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites.
From the Pragser Valley you can also hike up or drive up to the plateau of the Plätzwiese.
For a long time the petroglyphs there were thought to be mythological, but nowadays we know that they are the product of consistent water corrosion.
Tip: You can take a walk round the lake, or hike up to the mountain tops or hire a boat.

Earth pyramids
In the localities of Platten / Oberwielenbach (approx. 6 km), in Terenten (approx. 30 km) and Ritten near Bozen (approx. 100 km), accessible on easy foot paths, you can admire this unique natural wonder which are the earth pyramids. They emerged from the debris of prehistoric glaciers and were formed by corrosion of water, frost and wind.
Reservoir of Olang/Valdaora
Embedded between the villages of Oberolang and Welsberg lies the Reservoir of Olang, which is an artificial lake ideal for fishing (only with license), as well as for bikers and hikers who want to undertake an easy and pleasant excursion.

Lake Toblach/Dobbiaco and Lake Landro
In Toblach you will find two of the most charming natural lakes of the whole area. A hike round Lake Dobbiaco or a boat trip is very relaxing. If you feel hungry then the smell of roast chicken or local specialities will entice you to stop at one of the restaurants at the lake, amidst a spectacular scenery.
The idyllic Lake Landro is very popular among hobby anglers, but also non-anglers should visit the lake.
For fishing permissions for non-residents please contact the local tourist office.

The Waterfalls in Rein Valley
If you are approaching the waterfalls you can already hear their torrential waters, you can smell the fresh and wet air, and once you are there you can see the roaring waters cascade down, foaming up and then eventually break into thousands of water drops which reflect all the colours of the rainbow.
The three waterfalls of Rein are within a 30-minutes-drive from Olang.
(The footpath “Franziskusweg” takes you on a pleasant walk along the rivulet)

„Gilfenklamm“ - gorge in Stange/Sterzing
Steep rock faces, deep and almost uncanny gorges, a roaring waterfall – altogether a unique spectacle of nature. The torrential waters of the stream have carved a deep gorge into the white marble stone, which due to corrosion has changed its color into dark green. (1 hour´s drive).
Dolomites - Tour
On a pleasant bus tour you can be impressed by the outstanding beauty of the quickly changing landscapes: through to upper Puster Valley, past the mountain ranges of the Haunold, the world famous “Drei Zinnen”/ “Tre Cime di Lavaredo”, and the Monte Cristallo, to the olympic town of Cortina d´Ampezzo. On this classical tour you will actually drive over five mountain passes of the Dolomites, past a dozen of mountain peaks which are higher than 3.000 m, among them the peak of the “Marmolada”, the “Queen of the Dolomites”. Besides unique landscapes you will also “feel” the history as you will drive past some hard-fought battlefields of World War I, such as the Monte Piana.
